Let’s take a close look at Wii golf. First, do you know what Wii is? It is a hot new game platform that allows you to play games and exercise at the same time. What happens is that you hold onto a remote control with the game playing on your TV, and then the game actually detects your movements and as you move, you steer your character on the screen.
What you might not know is that there is now a Wii golf game available to anyone who prefers to play golf indoors rather than outdoors. All you have to do is turn on the game, hold onto your remote control and swing away. You will see a small, distinct character who will be holding onto the golf club and will be swinging right there with you. This is a great way for people to get together and play golf without having to spend hundreds of dollars just to spend a few hours a week at the golf course.
Wii golf is a very rare and a revolutionary idea, as it allows anybody to play a form of golf without all of the expenses for golf clubs, covers, balls, outfit, fees for the course etc which can be wasted when somebody takes up the game and then quits very soon. All you have to do is pick up Wii golf for yourself or go to a friend’s house and you will be able to play to your heart’s content.
Real golf players tend to be purists and may be very dismissive of the whole idea, but take another look before you ban it from your house. This can be a great way to get kids and other family members interested in your game. It is actually very realistic and it seems as if you were actually at the golf course playing. You really do have to move the same as you would if you played in real life. If you mess up your swing, your game character will do the same and your ball could be lost.
During the game you will be presented with indicators such as a distance indicator, wind indicator and others, but you will have the chance to turn them off to make the game a little more of a challenge as you become proficient in it.
Putting can be a little tricky. Putting is what you do toward the end of a hole when you are on the green and you just have a short distance to the hole. Here it is better not to move your whole arms the way you would do if you were really holding a golf club. Your shot will go too far on the Wii if you do that. Instead, just flick your wrists in a very small movement. You will soon get familiar with what you need to do to sink that ball right in the hole.
There is another great thing about Wii Golf. As you become really good at it, you can take part in special tournaments that are organized frequently. Look out for this in your city when you have become familiar with the game. It is a great way to compete and have some fun with your good buddies. It certainly beats practicing all alone.
I am sure that as the Wii becomes more and more popular, and more and more people play it, there are going to be great games created. Who knows, maybe there will even be a Wii golf game available in which you will really turn into Tiger Woods?
